The Care Cup

The 30th Care Cup competition organized by the Taiwan Indigenous Baseball Development Association (TIBDA) took place in Hualien with four days of exciting matches from November 24 to 27, 2023.

The Okinawa Ishigaki Youth Orions team was specially invited to participate in the softball competition. Their opening game was played against the Taitung Gungguan Primary School, which both being island teams. Although the Taitung Gungguan Primary School, as the first time playing in the softball competition, lost to the Okinawa Ishigaki Youth Orions team by 10:0, all young players cherished this valuable experience. The Taitung Gungguan Primary School players shared their tradition to the Okinawa Ishigaki Youth Orions team that graduates must dive to the seabed to receive their graduation certificates, which surprised to these young players from Ishigaki Island.

When talking about the Care Cup competition, one cannot overlook the "Baseball Classroom", where professional baseball players such as Lin Chih-sheng, Chen Yung-chi, Yang Yao-hsun and Lin Zhen-Cheng guided these young players. Chairman of TIBDA, Mr. Lin Chih-sheng mentioned “it is true that playing baseball could bring joy, but being respectful with each other, think carefully before speak and being serious in learning are crucial in this stage of these young players”; which indeed truly represent the belief of MIZUNO and Aki-Masa Sports Foundation to promote and facilitate the integration of sports into the education of children and adolescents, focusing on education beyond just sports and training.

This has been the 30th year of the Care Cup competition, MIZUNO and Aki-Masa Sports Foundation will continue to support the core value of the Care Cup - “Inheritance” and to carry on this legacy.

毎年末に行われる最大の野球イベント、原棒協第30回ケアカップは、2023年11月24日から27日まで、花蓮で4日間にわたる見応えある試合が繰り広げられました。

今年、特に招待されたのは、日本の沖縄石垣の少年オライオンズで、軟式野球の試合に参加しました。開幕戦では同じく島に位置する緑島公館小学校と対戦し、島々の対決でケアカップが幕を開けました。初めて台湾を訪れた石垣の少年オライオンズは、優れた投打のパフォーマンスで緑島公館小学校を10対0で打ち破りました。特筆すべきは、緑島公館小学校も初めて軟式野球に登録したことです。最終的には敗れましたが、小さな選手たちはこの貴重な交流の経験を大切にしています。試合の合間には、緑島公館小学校の特別な伝統を石垣島の小さな選手たちと共有し、卒業生が海底で卒業証書を取るという特殊な文化に、石垣島の小さな選手たちは驚きを感じました。

「ケアカップ」について言及すると、「野球教室」に触れざるを得ません。プロ野球スターである林智勝、陳鏞基、陽耀勳、林栚呈が直接子供たちを指導し、試合だけでなく、子供たちにはもっと多くの収穫があることを願っています。林智勝は「子供たちは成長段階にいます。野球を楽しむことは重要ですが、互いに尊重し、物事を考えた後に話す必要があり、学ぶことも真剣に取り組むべきです。」と述べています。実際、この言葉の意味は、ミズノと明正基金會が台湾のスポーツに深く関与する共通の核心理念であり、「スポーツを教育としてとらえる」という考え方と一致しています。

「ケアカップ」はすでに30年目に突入し、ミズノと明正基金會は「伝承と教育」というケアカップの核心理念を引き続き支持し、毎年大会に参加する小さな選手たちがその伝統を受け継ぐことを促進します。
